The saviour of all mankind. Who'd have thought it?

Shortly after Quetzalcoatl had completed his covert mission to Mictlan to retrieve the bones of the previous world to create the new one, it suddenly dawned on him that his new creations had nothing to eat. They were seriously undernourished, in desperate need of a square meal, and he began to despair.

Just then a red ant wondered by carrying a plump and delicious looking corn kernal and Quetzalcoatl pulled out all the stops to persuade Azcatl to reveal the whereabouts of his secret store. The ant was eventually worn down by the bully boy approach which may seem a little out of character, but Quetzalcoatl had hungry mouths to feed. Besides, all's fair in love and war.

A reluctant Azcatl lead the way to a secluded mountain where Quetzalcoatl transformed himself into a tiny black ant so he could squeeze through a crack and behold the joyous bounty that lay within. It was full of grains, seeds and other nutritous tit-bits that the Gods chewed up to create a stodgy mass to spoon feed the humans.
