He could remove all obstacles that threatened the well being of the universe, though if his most famous feat is anything to go by his unorthodox technique had nothing to do with divine power.

A mountain range was growing so tall that it started to block out the life giving sun so he begged it to shrink so that he could pass and stay that way until he returned. The mountain range duly obliged, and a grinning Agastya passed through then set off on the return journey home via a completely different route.

He also gave Rama the weapon that he used to kill Ravana, a huge arrow tipped with fire and sunlight that weighed more than Mount Meru. The reason why a humble Sage would be in posession of such an awesome weapon in the first place eludes me.
