Shinto Goddess of dawn, joy, dancing and revelry.

After a run-in with Susano-o in mad rage flayed horse throwing mode, Amaterasu fled to Ama-no-Iwato (heavenly rock cave) and pulled a boulder across the entrance, leaving the world in total darkness.

The god of good ideas had a good idea. Ama-tsu-mara the heavenly blacksmith was commisioned to do his most fabulous work, and the divine mirror was nailed to a tree opposite Amaterasu's hiding place.

All that was needed now was someone boisterous enough to get Amaterasus attention. Step forward Ama-No-Uzume, the goddess of dancing and revellrey and the gods gave her artistic licence.

Replacing her clothes with fallen leaves, she climbed onto an upturned bathtub and began to dance in a most suggestive manner, swinging her naked jubblies as she peeled away the leaves.

Long story short... Amaterasu popped out to see what all the fuss was about, sunlight was restored, disaster averted, strike up the band.

See the Amaterasu entry for more details.
