Having felled the giant Hrungnir and been peppered with shrapnel for his troubles, Thor called for the witch called Groa, and as she chanted the Whetstone shards from his head he told her this story about her husband Aurvandil.

Thor was wading through an icy stream on his way back from a giant smacking session in Jotunheim and for some reason was carrying Aurvandil in a basket strapped to his back.
One of Aurvandils toes were sticking out of the basket and became dead with frost bite, so Thor snapped it off and threw it into the sky where it became the star called Aurvandils toe. At this point Thor told Groa not to worry, her husband would be home soon.

Now it's not very often i'm at a loss for words but this story has me completely baffled. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with anything, and to make matters worse i don't even know if Aurvandil ever made it back to his freaky chanting witch wife.
