The very first living thing to emerge out of Chaos at the beginning of all time was Ymir the hermaphrodite Rime Giant.

As he slept he was sprayed with stray sparks from the toasty Muspelheim and a six headed giant grew from his sweaty feet. This was Bergelmir who sailed away on a sea of his fathers blood to create a whole new race of Rime giants.

But don't feel sorry for him, his brother and sister, Bolthorn and Bestla sprouted from Ymir's armpits!
