The daughter of Suttungr and Guardian of the mead of poetry at Hnitbjorg.

It was her job to guard the magical tipple that her brother accepted in exchange for the lives of two snivelling dwarves who had murdered his parents. It was kept in two vats and a pot called Bodn, Son and Ordrerir.

She was supposed to guard it with her life but an offer of sex when you look like Gunnlod doesn't come along very often. After spending three nights with a shifty stranger called Bolverk who dropped in from nowhere, Gunnlod granted him a taste of the magical mead. You wouldn't do her for free!

She didn't expect him to finish the lot in three sips or to turn into an eagle and fly the coup taking all of the mead with him. Rumour has it an even bigger suprise was in store when she discovered she was pregnant with Bragi who became the god of all skalds. But that could just be poetic licence.

It turns out Bolverk was actually Odin in disguise. Gunnlod was had in more ways than one.
