Son of Grimhild and Gjuki the Nibelung king.

He was hired along with his brother Gunnar to avenge Brynhild by murdering their half brother Sigurd.They really wanted to gain control of his hord of gold, but really didn't want his blood on their hands so they had Grimhild whip Guttorm into a frenzy and he did their dirty work for them.

With Sigurd out of the way, Gunnar and Hogni took posession of the treasure, completely ignorant of the curse, but it wasn't long before fate came knocking.

Grimhild was at it again with her magical mead as she helped Gudrun forget all about Sigurd. It also made her forget that Atli was a trecherous swine who would destroy the Nibelungs to gain control of the treasure and she ended up marrying him.

Sure enough, he couldn't wait to get Gunnar and Hogni to his court, and it wasn't for afternoon tea! Gunnar suffered a most horrific death and it wasn't long before Hogni followed...

Having been thrown into a pit of poisonous serpents with his hands bound, Hogni was defiant in the face of death and played his favourite harp with his toes.

This almost payed dividends as all but one of the snakes was lulled to sleep by his sweet music. Unfortunately the other one was Atli's witch of a mother and she to finished him off.
