Norse choosers of the slain. Viking ladies who arrived at the battlefield on horses. Well, not exactly ladies, more like warrior maidens. Not really on horses either, more like wolves... with wings.

So, what was the reason behind this rather grand entrance? Well they're not called 'choosers of the slain' for nothing. Led by the feisty Freyja they would gather up the fallen heroes and carry the bravest half off to Valhalla. The other half would end up at the less grand but just as much fun Sessrumnir.

Some would say that the sight of a Valkyrie before a battle would mean certain defeat, but with dozens of these flying demi-goddesses, competition for the fly guys was fierce and i think they just arrived early to check out the talent!

Rumour has it the reflection from the Valkyries armour as they made their way from Asgard to Midgard is the cause of the Aurora Borealis.
