( Hweet-zillo-posh-tlee) HUITZILOPOCHTLI

Aka : UITZILOPOCHTLI
God of : War, Crops | Tonalli : n/a | Trecena : n/a

The mighty Aztec sun god of war, warriors and death, quite bizzarely known as the left handed hummingbird. Bit of an identity crisis going on there, me thinks. Also big with crops.

Fighting fiercely with the moon and darkness everynight was thirsty work, so by the time Huitzilopochtli emerged victorious every morning he was exhausted and in need of a good drink. The Aztecs duly obliged, dragging captives up the alter steps, ripping open their chests and offering still beating hearts full of precious liquid (blood) to the battle-weary sun god.

He went on a murderous rampage when news filtered through that his mum Coatlicue, who hadn't even given birth to him yet, was about to be mullered by her four hundred snappily named offspring. They were a little annoyed that mummy had been interfered with by a ball of feathers but weren't banking on Huitzilopochtli springing fully armed from the womb.

They were even more suprised when he lay the smackdown.
