The ninth and lowest level of the Aztec Underworld governed by bone loving god of death Mictlantecuhtli and his cohort Mictecacihuatl.

With the exception of warriors, those hit by lightening and mothers who died at childbirth, everyone checked into Mictlan after death. It was a difficult place to get to, the journey would take four years even with the aid of Xolotl and by all accounts it wasn't worth the effort.

Mictlan was a dank miserable place.
