Shinto Goddess of Dawn, Joy, Dancing and Revelry.

When Amaterasu went into hiding after a little brother/sister disagreement (ok, it was more than a little disagrement - Susano threw a half flayed horse at her, killing one of her holy spinners and scaring Amaterasu half to death) the terrified Sun Goddess fled to a nearby cave and pulled a boulder across the entrance, leaving the world in total darkness. Obviously this wasn't a good thing and the gods put their thinking caps on.

Ama-No-Uzume placed a mirror on a tree opposite the cave, replaced her clothes with fallen leaves, climbed onto an upturned bathtub and began to dance. Gradually removing the leaves and dancing more than a little seductively had the other Gods in hysterics and as Amaterasu peeped out from the cave to see what all the fuss was about she was momenterily stunned by her reflection in the mirror. This peeping brought light back into the world and seizing his opportunity Tajikarawo grabbed her hand and pulled her out while the other Gods sealed up the cave. They were taking no chances.

Seeing her reflection made her realise how stunning she was and not wanting to deprive the world of her beauty Amaterasu climbed back into the sky to be admired by all.

Rumour has it brother Ninigi married her off to the God who guards the floating bridge to Heaven .. whatever his name is.
