Norse God of the sea who terrified sailors with his drunken storm causing antics.

He was the son of Fornjotr, brother of Logi and Kari, and in true 'consanguinity doesn't bother me' Norse style sired the nine Billow Maidens with his sister Ran.

A great hall on the seabed was where he called home, lit up by pure gold rather than your run of the mill fire and staffed by Fimafeng and Eldir. This was the place where Loki wound up the other Gods and questioned the virtue of every Goddess present.

He had a distillary business on the side and brewed ale for the gods in a huge cauldron. Gossip mongers suggest it was stolen from the giant Hymir but Thor says 'i found it'. Yeah right.

The goblets at his legendary get togethers filled themselves with a never ending supply of booze which is why the Gods were so fond of visiting him during the cold winter months ...

"Aegirs ale - refreshes the Gods other beers cannot reach"

Rumour has it when christianity triumphed over Paganism the Norse Gods upped sticks and moved to pastures new. Aegir took refuge in the river Trent in Lincolnshire where he must've started to hit the bottle pretty hard .. apparently he now demands three human sacrifices a year!
